Where Can I Book an Escape Room in Anaheim for a Group?

Oct 12
8 min read

If you're looking to book an escape room experience in Anaheim, Exit Game OC offers private 60-minute escape room games for friends, families, birthdays, teens, coworkers and other groups.

Every reservation is private, which means your group plays together without being paired with strangers. You can currently choose between two very different experiences: the creepy and ridiculous 13th Basement or the colorful, family-friendly Meow! I'm a Cat.

So yes:

You absolutely can book a group escape room game in Anaheim.

The bigger question is which game makes sense for your particular group.

Because the right room for six adults celebrating somebody's birthday may be very different from the right room for a family with three kids.

Unless those kids really enjoy serial killers.

Then we have options.

Where Can I Book an Escape Room Experience in Anaheim?

Exit Game OC is an escape room venue located at 2975 E White Star Ave in Anaheim, California. Games can be reserved online through our booking system, with available times varying by game and day.

Our current escape rooms are:

A horror-comedy escape room about a serial killer who became obsessed with escape rooms and decided to build one of his own.

Seems healthy.

Your group has 60 minutes to work through his creation and escape.

13th Basement has a 7/10 difficulty rating, a linear puzzle flow and a creepy atmosphere with some mild blood, gore, loud noises and adult humor.

There is no live actor inside the room.

Current bookings accommodate 2–8 players, with pricing varying based on group size.

Best for: Groups of friends, teens, adult birthdays, date nights and groups that want a more challenging traditional escape-room experience.

This game goes in a slightly different direction.

You are cats.

You have somehow ended up in a pet shop adoption cubby and are about to be adopted by the wrong family.

Your mission is to get the pet shop owner to contact your real owner before the adoption event begins.

Meow! I'm a Cat has a 3/10 difficulty rating, a non-linear puzzle flow and no scary content. It was designed especially with kids ages 5–10 and beginner players in mind, although adults are welcome to play without children.

Current bookings accommodate 3–8 players.

Best for: Families, kids' birthdays, younger players, beginners and groups that would strongly prefer their escape-room adventure not involve dismembered body parts.

Can I Book a Group Escape Room Game in Anaheim?

Yes.

Escape rooms are actually built around group play.

You search together, share information, solve puzzles and work toward the same objective before the clock runs out.

At Exit Game OC, your reservation is private, so you will not be mixed with another group of players.

If you book with five friends, those are the people you play with.

There will not suddenly be three strangers standing in the room with you because they happened to buy tickets for the same time.

This is especially useful for:

  • Families

  • Birthday parties

  • Groups of friends

  • Coworkers

  • Teen groups

  • Couples and double dates

  • First-time escape-room players

  • Experienced escape-room enthusiasts

It also means your group gets to develop its own completely dysfunctional puzzle-solving system in privacy.

How Many People Can Play an Escape Room Together?

Player capacity depends on the specific game.

At Exit Game OC, the currently listed player counts are:

But maximum capacity and ideal group size are not always exactly the same thing.

A larger group gives you more eyes searching for clues and more brains working on puzzles.

It also gives you more people saying:

“WAIT. WHAT ARE WE DOING?”

For experienced adult players, smaller groups sometimes enjoy having more puzzles to solve individually.

Beginners and families may prefer having a few more players helping.

The best choice really depends on the room and your group.

Can I Book an Escape Room for a Birthday Party in Anaheim?

Absolutely.

Escape rooms work particularly well for birthdays because everyone gets to participate at the same time.

Nobody is sitting on the sidelines waiting for their turn.

The whole group enters the adventure together and spends the next hour searching, solving, yelling numbers across the room and accusing each other of losing keys that are probably sitting directly in front of them.

At Exit Game OC, the best game depends largely on the age of the birthday group.

Younger Birthday Groups

Meow! I'm a Cat is the obvious choice for younger kids.

It was designed specifically with children and families in mind and is recommended especially for kids roughly ages 5–10 playing with a guardian. Children under 13 need an adult or guardian playing in the room with them.

The theme is colorful and silly rather than frightening.

Teen and Adult Birthday Groups

For older players, 13th Basement gives the birthday a completely different personality.

It is spooky, funny and more challenging, with creepy sets and horror elements without a live actor chasing anyone around the room.

The game is currently recommended for ages 13 and up.

Our birthday information also specifically recommends Meow for kids and families and 13th Basement for older groups wanting the funny-scary experience.

Can I Book an Escape Room for a Work Group?

Yes.

Escape rooms are popular for company outings because teamwork happens naturally during the game.

Someone notices a detail.

Someone else figures out what it means.

Another person remembers seeing an object across the room that connects to it.

And suddenly the accounting department is communicating better than it has in three years.

Escape rooms naturally involve:

  • Communication

  • Problem-solving

  • Creative thinking

  • Leadership

  • Listening

  • Delegation

  • Working under a shared time limit

The nice part is that nobody has to sit through a seminar about teamwork first.

You just play.

Exit Game OC can currently accommodate up to 8 players in 13th Basement and up to 6 adults in Meow! I'm a Cat simultaneously for corporate events, for as many as 14 adults playing at once between the two rooms. Larger groups can be arranged in rotating or back-to-back time slots.

What If My Group Is Bigger Than One Escape Room?

Do not automatically assume your group is too large.

Large parties and company groups can often be divided into smaller teams.

For example, part of the group can play one room while another group plays the second room, or groups can rotate through different time slots.

For particularly large private events, it is worth contacting the venue directly rather than trying to force everyone into a normal online reservation.

Exit Game OC can arrange private-event times outside normal posted hours when minimum group requirements are met.

That can be useful for:

  • Corporate outings

  • Large birthday groups

  • Family gatherings

  • School or youth groups

  • Team celebrations

  • Conference groups visiting Anaheim

  • Holiday parties

If your group is larger than the normal capacity shown online, contact us and we can figure out the cleanest way to schedule everyone.

Are Group Escape Rooms Private in Anaheim?

This varies by company, so check before booking.

Some escape rooms may sell individual spaces and combine smaller parties.

At Exit Game OC, all current games are private.

Your group gets the room to itself.

For many people, that makes a big difference.

Families do not need to worry about their kids playing alongside strangers.

Birthday groups stay together.

Coworkers can focus on their own team.

And beginners can take their time without feeling like an escape-room enthusiast they have never met is silently judging them from across the room.

Everybody wins.

Which Anaheim Escape Room Should My Group Choose?

Start with three questions.

Who Is Playing?

If you have younger children, Meow! I'm a Cat is designed specifically for them.

If your group consists mostly of teens or adults, either room could work.

Does Anyone Hate Being Scared?

If the answer is an enthusiastic YES, choose Meow.

There is nothing scary about it.

13th Basement is intentionally horror-comedy rather than an extreme haunted attraction, but it still contains creepy imagery, mild gore, loud sounds and spooky moments.

There is no actor in the room, though, which makes it a good middle ground for groups where some people enjoy horror considerably more than others.

How Challenging Do You Want the Game to Be?

Meow is currently rated 3/10 difficulty.

13th Basement is 7/10.

So if your group is completely new to escape rooms or includes younger children, Meow offers the gentler introduction.

If you want more of a challenge, 13th Basement is likely the better fit.

Do We Need Escape-Room Experience?

No.

You do not have to know anything about escape rooms before booking one.

You will receive instructions before the game begins, and hints are available if you get stuck.

The biggest advantage a group can have is not previous escape-room experience.

It is communication.

If you find something interesting, tell everybody.

If you solve something, tell everybody.

If you pick up a key and put it in your pocket...

Please tell everybody.

Actually, maybe don't put it in your pocket at all.

How Long Should We Plan for an Escape Room?

Both Exit Game OC games currently have a 60-minute game limit.

You should allow some additional time before the game for check-in and instructions and a few minutes afterward for a team photo and post-game discussion.

So although the game itself lasts a maximum of one hour, do not schedule dinner exactly 61 minutes after your reservation.

Especially if your group contains eight people who all need to use the bathroom afterward.

Should We Book an Escape Room in Advance?

We recommend it.

Escape rooms operate on specific start times, and once another group reserves that slot it is no longer available.

This is especially important for:

  • Friday nights

  • Saturdays

  • Holidays

  • Birthday parties

  • Large groups

  • Corporate outings

  • Specific times before or after dinner

If you already know when your group wants to play, reserving ahead gives you the best chance of getting the game and start time you want.

What Should I Look for Before Booking a Group Escape Room?

Before clicking the reservation button, check:

Theme: Does everyone actually want horror?

Difficulty: Is this everyone's first escape room?

Age recommendation: Especially important for families.

Player capacity: Make sure your entire group fits.

Private vs. public booking: Will strangers be added?

Time limit: Most games are around 60 minutes, but confirm.

Accessibility: Contact the venue beforehand if anyone in your group needs accommodations.

Location: Make sure everyone knows where they are going.

Five friends driving separately to “the escape room in Anaheim” is not a transportation plan.
